Susan Lazar, founded Desert Queen, a women’s clothing line created in 2021.
The clothes are inspired by warmer climate dressing and resort wear and designed to meet the lifestyle needs of fashion conscious women in a variety of locales, locations and from day into evening. If you want to look chic in the heat - Desert Queen is the brand, made from breathable 100% natural cotton, and soft cotton silk blends.
The collection is created from centuries old techniques of Indian block printing and translates them into fashionable modern silhouettes. Desert Queen is Human Made... every Desert Queen item has the human touch. The Desert Queen brand is based in and inspired by the vibrant city of Tel Aviv, although its founder and designer, Ms Lazar, is a former, longtime New Yorker and understands selling to the American and Global markets.
Before starting Desert Queen, Ms Lazar designed and brought two different, both multi million dollar clothing brands to market.
Susan Lazar is an acclaimed designer whose clothes have been featured in WWD, Vogue, Bazaar, In style, and dozens of other leading women’s fashion media outlets.
Renowned for her designs’ fit and workmanship, Lazar has dressed prominent female celebrities including Charlize Theron and Jennifer Anniston.
She built her namesake label from 1993-2000, into a 6 million dollar brand sold at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales.
Her second label, a children’s clothing brand egg by susan lazar (2000- 2016) reached 8 million in business through the same premium retail partners. Lazar launched egg in 2003, a New York-based baby and childrenswear company. At egg she focused on family and the nurturing elements of fashion, making the transition from “runway to rompers”.
Susan loved that egg was a universal brand with an affordable price point. She called it “affordable luxury” for baby and kids. Egg’s tag line is “nurture your baby in style” and that’s what she does w the egg line- “I wanted to strike a balance between ‘chic’ and ‘sweet’…and I think we’ve done that with egg. She primarily uses natural fabrics and yarns highlighting what is pure and natural- just like the love between babies and parents. All eggs are the same on the outside… the message is that it’s what inside that counts!”
